Mission
CLMA’s mission is to celebrate the community’s rich artistic legacy and promote the cultural vitality of the region.
About the Museum
The Claremont Lewis Museum of Art was created to inspire, engage, and enhance the community through education programs, a permanent collection, and exhibitions. The Museum seeks to share transformative art experiences with our diverse audiences. Featuring the work of Claremont area artists, the Museum is open Thursday 12:00 – 4:00 PM, Friday 12:00 – 7:00 PM, Saturday 12:00 – 4:00 PM and Sunday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
In addition to exciting and thought-provoking exhibitions on view at our space in the Historic Claremont Depot, CLMA also engages with the community in a variety of ways:
- Live Music: We feature local bands on our patio during opening receptions, Claremont Art Walk, and more!
- Programming: We offer frequent lectures, discussion panels, and behind-the-scenes tours to encourage deeper engagement with our exhibitions and collections
- Education: Project ARTstART is the Museum’s signature art education program, creating opportunities for youth to teach youth about art-making, local history, and careers in the arts.
- Events: Annual CLMA events include FestivArts at the Padua Hills Theatre, our annual one-day pop-up exhibition Free 4 All, Dia de Los Muertos, and our popular fall gala. We also offer monthly hands-on workshops led by local artists through our Art Night Out series.
