Through its permanent collection, the Claremont Lewis Museum of Art seeks to preserve art objects of historical significance. In accordance with CLMA’s mission, these objects are made accessible to the public through exhibitions and education programs to provide insight and understanding into the rich cultural heritage of our region. The collection is focused on art of Claremont and Southern California, more broadly. A focal point of the CLMA collection is art made during the mid-century modern period following World War II, a time of robust creative production in and around Claremont.
