Words That Work: Writing for Artists and Art Writers
Learn technical writing at the museum 10-11:30 am for a workshop for artists and art writers. Curator and educator Richard Allen May III will discuss how to craft a strong artist's statement, bio, and writing for publication. The session will include a practical walkthrough of the writing process as applied to art criticism: prewriting, outlining, drafting, revision, and editing. Please register for the free workshop.

Book Club: Developing an Art History of the Pomona Valley
To launch the Museum’s new Book Club, author Dr. Wendy Slatkin will speak about her new book Art and Community in California's Pomona Valley 1930 – 1980 at the Museum 5-8 pm. Dr. Slatkin will describe the process by which her book was created, the criteria used for the selection of artists, the organization of the book, and define the main archival sources and bibliographic references on which the book is based. Books will be available for sale and signing at the reception following the program.

FestivArts 2026
Public Event
The Claremont Lewis Museum of Art will host FestivArts at the Padua Hills Theatre from 11 am to 4 pm featuring artist Kris Erickson. Original work by local artists will be displayed for sale under shady olive trees along with craft demonstrations, art making, face painting, tacos, and live music by the Claremont Voodoo Society.
